Michele Rosewoman’s New Yor-Uba Celebrates 40 Years at Dizzy’s Lincoln Center September 19/20 2023
New Yor-Uba debuted at the Public Theater in 1983. Celebrating 40 years, the ensemble returns to Dizzy’s Lincoln Center on September 19 and 20, 2023–this time with the addition of bassist Yunior Terry who has an extensive history with the ensemble, and with new member, vocalist/folklorist Roger Consiglio. Throughout its 40-year history the ensemble has continued to evolve through new repertoire and personnel. Master foklorist Roman Diaz has been a featured member and vital collaborator or the past 15 years.
New Yor-Uba plays in honor of the great Orlando ‘Puntilla’ Rios (ibae).
